C.F.S.P. – Cook Forest State Park

Cook Forest State Park spans 8,500 acres of Clarion, Forest & Jefferson counties. It is home to 11 different old growth forest areas and includes some of the largest and oldest trees in the world, including the State Champion Eastern Hemlock Tree. One such area is The Forest Cathedral – A Nationally Registered Natural Landmark, pictured on the can. Pennsylvania’s State Tree, The Eastern Hemlock, has flourished here for centuries but is being threatened by an invasive insect called The Hemlock Wooly Adelgid. The HWA has been spreading across the east coast and can have a devastating effect on our State Tree species. Fortunately, the team fighting back has effective tools at their disposal but they need our help to save these giants.
